What Does Cinco de Mayo Remember?
Cinco de Mayo means “Fifth of May.” It remembers the Mexican victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It is a different occasion from Mexico’s Independence Day.
Use the puzzle as a starting point, then locate Puebla on a map. The food and celebration words on a worksheet are only a small part of learning about Mexico and its history.
