Connect the Story to Something Real

Bring out a scarf or look closely at a leaf. Ask your child for two describing words before reading. Afterward, compare those words with the details in the passage: which ideas came from observation, and which came from the author?

Ask a question of your own: Let your child invent a “what” or “where” question that another person can answer using the story.

How to Use These Printables
