What Is World Space Week?

World Space Week was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999 to celebrate the contributions of space science and technology.

The dates commemorate two significant events: the launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1, on October 4, 1957, and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10, 1967.

Each year, the celebration has a specific theme that highlights different aspects of space exploration and its impact on humanity.
